Artist: Caroline Jariwala working with Birmingham Children in Care

Birmingham’s Adoption and Fostering service is keen to recruit people to adopt and foster ‘our’ children in care.  Some of our children in care had the opportunity to work with the artist, Caroline Jariwala, to create a design and then co-produce Starlight owl.

Sponsor: Birmingham City Council’s People Directorate

Funded by: Birmingham Adoption and Fostering Service

At any one time, Birmingham City Council looks after around 2,000 children who live either temporarily in foster care or permanently with adopters or foster carers.

‘Our’ Children and young people need good, ordinary people, who have some life experience, ‘stick-ability’ and a healthy, safe interest in supporting children and young people to fulfil their dreams.

This big, friendly service offers allowances and fees for fostering, gives ongoing training and support for all foster carers and adopters and provides timely assessments.  It has excellent access to all professionals involved; schools, health, families etc.
