50 Big Hoots will go under the hammer to raise vital funds for St Elizabeth Hospice. Your winning bids will support the work of the hospice and enable us to continue to provide care free of charge to those living with progressive or life-limiting illness.
It will be an fabulous evening with a hoot of a reception and owl-tastic entertainment. Arrive at 6pm before first bids start at 7pm. The auction will be conducted by Clarke and Simpson.
Each of the individually designed Big Hoots will be auctioned off and this is your chance to own a Big Hoot.
The Elmers Big Parade auction saw Elmers sell for £3,000 up to £10,000 and now grace homes, business and gardens over the UK and Suffolk.
The evening will be set in the backdrop of the historic Grand Hall at the Town Hall and guests will enjoy a welcome drink and canapes to prepare for the bidding ahead.
We are delighted that local auctioneers Clarke and Simpson will be conducting the auction, and have long tradition in the industry as well as featuring in BBC TV programmes such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip.
So get your bidding paddles at the ready…because it’s going to be an evening you won’t want to miss!
Are all the Big Hoot Sculptures for sale?
In total there are 50 lots in the auction.
Nocturne is the only one which is not for sale as we are holding a public raffle to win it, find out more here.
Are the Little Hoots included in the auction?
The Little Hoots will be flocking back to the schools and groups who created them so they will not be sold at auction.
Can I view lots before bidding on them?
All the Big Hoots are out on the trail until 3 September.
You can view by attending the Farewell weekend on the 10 – 11 September – Book Tickets Here
If you are wishing to place bids on the sculptures and you wish to preview before the Auction event please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
How will I get my Big Hoot home?
As the buyer, you will be responsible for organising delivery or collection of the sculptures within 7 days of the auction.
Our supporting partners Wyards will be present on the Auction evening should you wish to book delivery of your Big Hoot with them.
If you would like a delivery or shipping estimate then please contact Wyards.
How do I bid?
The auction is being conducted by Clarke & Simpson.
If you’d like to bid in person at the Big Hoot auction please book tickets here. There will be a charge for attendance of £20 but this will be refunded against your purchase.
You’ll be contacted and asked to complete a Bidder Registration Form in advance of the event.
Will the sculptures include the concrete base?
We will have some concrete bases available to buy at an additional cost. Delivery can be arranged along with your Big Hoot.
Will there be an estimate guide price?
No, but from previous trails we know that the sculpture price can range from £2k – £10K with an average price being approximately £5k.
How do you take payments for the sculptures?
As stated in the Terms and condition you must pay for your Big Hoot sculpture either on the evening you register your winning bid, or within five days of the invoice being issued to you.
Payment is made to the Auctioneer in the currency in which the sale was conducted immediately upon winning the Lot and you must ensure that the funds are cleared by the 5th working day after the sale. Payment must be made to The Auctioneer by cheque, bankers draft, BACS transfer or debit card unless otherwise agreed with you in writing by The Auctioneer.
Can the Big Hoots live outside all year round?
All of the sculptures except Discowl have been treated with varnish to protect them from the elements. Over time they will need to re-done and we can recommend a suitable supplier.
Discowl due to the nature of its design would be only suitable for an indoor home.
