This owl was inspired by the artist’s niece Elsie, who passed away at only 10 days old at Chestnut Tree House in 2021. The design is an abstract interpretation of the aurora borealis, with constellations of stars on the wings. Lottie says that since Elsie’s death, stars have become an important way for the family to remember her. The stars scattered across the wings of the owl are in memory of children that have died at the hospice.
